Everyday while closing the temple in morning as well as evening, the priest with a torch in his hand, would ask if 'anybody is hungry' in all four tower gates of the temple.
If anybody is hungry then the temple gates are closed only after feeding them.
These are followed by them as an instruction from Lord Shiva

Explanation:

Manickavasagar instructs a bee not to sip the honey from the flowers. By this, he explains to the mankind that the worldly pleasures are very little and not to enjoy it. Instead he tells us to reach the holy feet of Lord Shiva as it is eternal and filled with infinite bliss.

பூவிலுள்ள தேனைத்🍯 “தினையளவு' என்றது, “உலக🌏 இன்பம் சிறிது” என்பதையும், இறைவனது கூத்தினை, “தேன்மழை” என்றது, “இறையின்பம் அளவற்றது” என்பதையும் மாணிக்கவாசகர் குறிப்பிடுகின்றார்.
இதனால், இறைவன் திருவடி இன்பம் அழியாத் தன்மை உடையது என்பது கூறப்பட்டது.
